Our Location
Roots and Wings Village is based on the property at Shanti Mandir Temple of Peace ashram, where we have built two yurt classrooms. We also have two run-in style sheds which function as outdoor classrooms/flex spaces. Additionally, we have access to the ashram's beautiful, nearly 300 acre property, which includes an outdoor picnic area, organic garden, and maintained hiking trails. Shanti Mandir is also adjacent to the 4.8 mile Walden-Walkill Rail trail, which can be used for nature study outings and hikes.
The land at Shanti Mandir offers us a rich, biodiverse ecosystem to explore, complete with vibrant meadows, untouched forests, wetlands, and more! There are several creeks on the land that connect to the adjacent Walkill River, which provides a major migratory route and nesting habitat for over 225 bird species!
